Webinar Description
Many of us want to bring about paradigm change in the shared vision of mental health and "illness." That is difficult to do, however, without understanding our past. What exactly is psychiatry’s “biomedical model” and how did it become so entrenched in our collective imagination? What are some of the paradigms that we chose to leave behind, and why? How can we best recover and promote some of those forgotten paradigms? In particular, Justin will describe a historical clash between what he calls “pathology” and “purpose” paradigms of what is termed "mental illness," and suggests that we may be witnessing, today, a transition from one to the other.
