Bertram Karon Memorial Award
Dr. Bertram Karon represented the heart and soul of ISPS-US, and inspired generations of psychotherapists to defy the prevailing belief that people experiencing psychosis could not be helped through psychoanalytic psychotherapy. He was a valued colleague, mentor, teacher, friend and therapist to many in our organization, and touched many more through his writings, including more than 100 papers published in professional journals, along with his contributions to many books, the best known of which is his classic collaboration with Gary VandenBos, Psychotherapy for Schizophrenia: The Treatment of Choice.
ISPS-US has chosen to honor Dr. Karon's towering contributions by creating an annual award for the presentation at the ISPS-US conference that best carries on his humane and spirited quest to promote psychotherapy for psychosis.
