We are thrilled to announce Sarah Kamens, PhD, as our first keynote speaker for the landmark 25th Annual ISPS-US Conference, "Psychosis and the Social," taking place November 6–8, 2026, at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City and hybrid online.
Dr. Kamens is a clinical psychologist and interdisciplinary scholar whose work deeply resonates with this year’s theme. As the author of Reconceptualizing Schizophrenia: The Phenomenology of Urhomelessness and the Editor of the Journal of Humanistic Psychology, Dr. Kamens explores the profound social alienation that often underlies psychological distress.
Her research into "urhomelessness," the twofold experience of feeling profoundly unsafe and unacknowledged, challenges us to view psychosis not as an isolated pathology, but as an expression of society's fractures.
Call for Proposals Now Open!
In the spirit of Dr. Kamens’ work, we invite you to help us explore how psychosis emerges in relationship with the social link. We are eager to bring together a wide range of voices and perspectives, including people with lived experience, family members, clinicians, peer supporters, researchers, and advocates.
We invite you to read the description on our conference site, reflect, and consider contributing your voice. The Call for Proposals is now open through June 1, 2026.
